A week ago, I went on a school trip to a beach in Costa Rica called Manuel Antonio. We went there to celebrate our last year in middle school now that we’re moving up to high school. My classmates and I were at school at 6:oo am waiting the busses to arrive to take us on our trip. Even though we were all tired, we were also really excited for the trip to begin. Finally the bus got to the school and my teacher divided us into groups. The people who were doing canopy and horse back ridding were group #1. The rest of us, who were doing THE superman zip line were group #2, definitely the best group. The bus ride to get us to Turu-ba-ri Park was an hour and a half long. I was trying to sleep, but it was IMPOSSIBLE!! It was sooooo much noise because everyone was singing, laughing, talking, playing, or painting people’s faces while they slept. Still the trip was fun and short. We got to the Turu-bari-Park and of course we ate Gallo Pinto, bananas, and fruit, a typical Costa Rican breakfast. Then the fun began. We got split into our same groups, #1 and #2. The staff put bracelets on our wrists to indicate where we should go. We walked towards the superman zip line, and I saw a platform way up high that I thought was for bungee Jumping. I asked the guide how much further we had to walk to get to the zip line, and he said we were there already. I asked where it was because I only saw the bungee jumping platform. He told me that that platform was for the zip line. I got so scared because it was so high. I regretted having picked the superman and thought I was not going to be able to do it. We went up, and it took us a long time to get to the top. I was scared of looking down and see how people below me became smaller and smaller. When we got up to the top the 35 of us were split in groups of 8 and I was in the first group. Some tourists came along with us, so they had to go first. I thought this would be better because that way I could get the chance to watch them go on the zip line and maybe I wouldn’t be so scared. It didn’t work. I got more and more scared as the people took their turn. When my classmates took their turns, I was even more nervous, and this was weird because I’m not even afraid of heights. I couldn’t get the news if they made it to the other side safely or if they had just died on their way falling down into the river and eaten by the crocodiles. Finally it was my turn. OH MY GOD!!! By that time I wanted to go to the bathroom or call my parents to say good-bye. I had to go on the cushion like bench to get all prepared to go attached to the zip-line and go. I was all prepared, really nervous and as soon as I looked up the doors opened. I could totally see where I was going to fall. I started yelling at the guide and asking him if I was really attached to the cable. They pulled my backwards and let me go. It was going so fast I could feel the air in my face and how the tears rolling in my face too. I was so happy I passed the spot were I was going to fall and it was over in five seconds. I got safely to the other side and wanting to do it again.
